This replica represents a rare aureus of Emperor Trajan (98–117 AD), struck around 112–113 AD, during the height of Rome’s imperial power. The coin combines an impressive imperial portrait with deeply symbolic reverse imagery, celebrating Trajan’s victories and his safe return to Rome.

Obverse: The laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Trajan facing right. This splendid portrait captures the emperor’s authority, military strength, and leadership during one of the most prosperous eras of the Roman Empire. The surrounding legend, IMP TRAIANO AVG GER DAC P M TR P COS VI P P, proclaims his full titles, honoring his victories in Germania and Dacia and his position as Father of the Fatherland.

Reverse: Depicts Fortuna Redux, goddess of safe returns, seated left on a chair without back. She holds a rudder set on the ground in her right hand, symbolizing guidance and stability, and a cornucopiae in her left, representing prosperity and abundance. The legend S·P·Q·R· OPTIMO PRINCIPI // FORT·RED translates to “The Senate and People of Rome, to the Best Prince, Fortuna Redux.”

Historical Context:
This type was struck during Trajan’s reign at the height of Rome’s power, shortly after his successful campaigns in Dacia. The reverse honors his safe return to Rome and the peace and prosperity brought under his rule. Surviving originals of this type are extremely rare, with only a handful recorded, making it one of the most admired aurei of Trajan.

This replica allows collectors to hold a piece of Rome’s golden age in their hands — a tribute to Trajan, the “Optimus Princeps” (Best Ruler), and to the enduring legacy of the Roman Empire.

Specifications:
