This replica is based on the classical Greek silver stater minted in the city-state of Sicyon (Sikyon), located in the northern Peloponnese. Struck around 350–330 BC, these coins belong to one of the most elegant and symbolically rich series of Greek numismatics.

Obverse:
The coin features the chimera, the mythical fire-breathing creature with a lion’s body, a goat’s head emerging from its back, and a serpent for a tail. The chimera strides powerfully to the left, with a small laurel wreath above — a reference to civic victory and divine favor.

Reverse:
On the reverse, a dove in flight appears fully spread within a laurel wreath, with the letter N below. The dove was the sacred emblem of Sicyon and symbolizes peace, purity, and the city’s connection to the goddess Aphrodite.
The surrounding wreath represents honor, victory, and the city’s prominence in classical Greek culture.

Historical Context:
Sicyon was a prosperous and influential polis during the 4th century BC, known for its artistic excellence and strong monetary system. Its silver staters circulated widely across the Peloponnese and were admired for their graceful design and refined engraving.
The chimera and dove series are considered signature coins of Sicyon’s classical era.
