This plaster bust is a reproduction inspired by the famous statue of Hermes with the Infant Dionysus, attributed to Praxiteles (ca. 4th century BC) and preserved in the Archaeological Museum of Olympia, Greece.

Hermes, known as Mercury in Roman mythology, was the messenger of the gods, patron of travelers, and guide of souls to the afterlife. In Praxiteles’ masterpiece, he is shown as an idealized, youthful figure — serene, graceful, and perfectly balanced in form.

Although this version presents only the bust, it captures the elegance and harmony of Praxiteles’ original work, considered one of the greatest achievements of Classical Greek sculpture.
